I cannot think of a better way to celebrate finishing residency than spending time with family. I took my written boards on June 30th and we all headed up to the Colorado Mountains the next day to celebrate and relax. Ben and I rented a huge luxury rental home in walking distance to the town as a thank you to all those who supported us and made it possible to get through the grueling 4 years of residency training. We had such a a great trip!
The house we rented was ridiculously nice with room for all of us to stay. Ben, Molly and I headed up on Tuesday afternoon together with the Weingartners five, Janelle and Anthony, Grandma Jodi and Grandpa Dave, and Grandma and Pappy. There was a hot tub we got to enjoy under the stars, a pool table, world cup soccer and of course food, beer and board games. Grandma Shirley held down the fort (AKA cleaned the kitchen after her 4 great grand kids) the next morning while the rest of us went on a hike. I use the term "hike" a bit lightly - but it was perfect for our 1 year old toddler with her 80+ year old great grandpa. We fed squirrels, had a few tantrums from toddlers (not our Molly of course!), enjoyed some amazing views and took too many pictures!
